Alixa Garcia: Technical Director

Alixa is a Co-Founder & Artistic Director of Climbing PoeTree, an internationally renowned multimedia theater, activist, and spoken word duo out of Brooklyn, NY. She has facilitated workshops and performed in hundreds of venues from Harvard University to Rikers Island Prison.

Garcia has presented alongside powerhouses such as Angela Davis, Alicia Keys, Erykah Badu, Danny Glover and Alice Walker, to name a few. Alixa has been a graphic designer and visual artist for over a decade, her visual artistry has been featured on large-scale walls from New York City, Cuba, and Jamaica, as well as galleries and museums, including the Smithsonian, and The African Museum in Philadelphia.

You can see more of her visual art on ClimbingPoetree.com. She was the recipient of the Global Arts Fund/Astrea Visual Artist Grant, 2013-2014, and recipient of numerous residencies and think tanks, including a month long artist residency at the esteemed Blue Mountain Center this upcoming summer.

Alixa is so excited to come home to Brooklyn and get to work with this powerful young cast of up and coming actors as their technical director and light designer.
